Mary Esther Middleton

Mary Esther teaches a gentle, nurturing and eclectic style of yoga. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level, training with the Living Yoga Program, here in Austin TX.

She has studied with local Austin yoga teachers Ellen Smith, Charles MacInerney, and Donna Belk, and others from afar including Donna Farhi and Rod Stryker. Her style is influenced by these teachers to bring together a practice that is restorative, aligned, balanced, and relaxing.

She teachers from the heart, with compassion and humor, blending breathing and stretching techniques that enable you to enhance and explore your mind and body awareness. She encourages you as you become more limber and relaxed by first quieting the mind, then listening to your body to see exactly what you need in any given moment.

Mary Esther assists you in evolving your own personal yoga practice and becoming more comfortable in yoga postures. Her hope is that you will leave her all-level classes feeling grounded, nurtured and restored.

Mary Esther enjoys getting to know people and being active in the community. She organizes the Free Day of Yoga and volunteers at various events around town. She enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing ˆ anything outside! And indoors, cooking is one of her passions.

Festival Workshop: Introduction to Yoga

There is a wealth all around us and within us. Come experience profound yoga techniques to The Introduction to Yoga Workshop is the perfect way for people of all ages and levels of experience to learn how to start and sustain a yoga practice. This workshop will provide an overview of:

- Many styles of yoga available
- Basic yoga postures (asanas)
- Breathing exercises (pranayama)
- Philosophy of yoga
- Meditation
- Finding the right instructor

In the workshop you will practice proper alignment of the body, coordination of breath and movement, holding the postures, and flowing from one pose to another.

In addition, you will determine which styles are most appropriate for you, explore how to continue your yoga practice at home, and learn about ways to find a yoga teacher just for you.Outline:
