Lk Bookman

Lk is a yoga teacher and founder of the Austin Yoga Hub, an online yoga news and events source for the community. She has been a personal student of yoga for more than 12 years, practicing Ashtanga, Hatha Flow, Vinyasa and Yin styles of yoga. In addition to being a great compliment to running, practicing yoga has also provided her with relief from stress, anxiety and many other physical and mental difficulties of life.

Her personal practice lead to a longing to share the gift of yoga with others, and in 2010, Lk completed a 200-hour Hatha yoga teacher training program. This training focused heavily on safety and anatomy, providing a strong foundation for developing sequences suitable for many fitness levels and ages.

Lk Bookman

As a teacher, Lk strives to provide a space of compassion and self-acceptance for her students so that each can discover the benefits of yoga and reach their highest potential on and off their mats.

She continues to pursue advanced training towards the 500-hour level certification, having studied with Chase Bossart, Donna Farhi, Leslie Kaminoff and Mark Whitwell. In addition to her training, she credits several local teachers for their guidance and support on her journey as a yoga practitioner and teacher.

Lk is also the founder and writer for the Austin Yoga Hub, a website that shares the benefits of yoga, news and events for the Austin community.

Festival Workshop: The Power of Yin Yoga: No Pain, More Gain!

Yin yoga postures are the perfect compliment to a Yang practice or any physical activity that focuses on building muscle, strength and stamina. Practicing Yin postures mildly stretch the connective tissue (ligaments and tendons) and the body responds by strengthening it. This process helps one increase range of motion, performance and help prevent injury while engaging in a vigorous yoga practices such as Vinyasa and Ashtanga or activities such as running, cycling, triathlons and other highly physical activities.

In this class we will cover basic Yin posters and their benefits. You'll leave with tools that you can take home and integrate into your everyday life, allowing you to find more balance and improve your strength and flexibility for other activities. Come and discover the power of Yin!
